Description of the project

SHIPO conducted a coach competitive game in 2009 which aimed at motivating coaches to continue with promotion of water and sanitation program in rural areas. As a result 3 community coaches out of 46 coaches won the prize.
This was done through observing number of Smart Tech products present in particular ward. It was found that 3 coaches out of 46 performed well. Hence they had to get a bonus based on the village’s priority.
However according to the projects plans, implementation process will be done in levels. The first project is the construction of dispensary which started in June 2010 at Ihalula village in Uwemba ward.

Another project within XVMO is the school club project. Communities from three villages get the opportunity to start these clubs for orphans and vulnerable children. The club give these children the opportunity to socialise and to get psychological support from SHIPO. Also SHIPO helps them in creating small scale self help projects, like keeping chicken, pigs and trees. With the money gained from these projects it will benefit the children by supporting them in school fees and food.

Project progress

The dispensary is in its final stage (March 2012).
